Safe Driving Association Anti-Texting/Mobile Distraction App app for iPhone and iPad

Here at the SDA, we are about safe driving. We want to educate you on WHAT this app does and WHY we do it this way to prevent your disappointment with the way it is intended to function.

1.This app DOES NOT PREVENT ALL phone use while driving. Your phone is a consumer device and rules governing its use are made and enforced by Apple, its manufacturer. Apple does not allow ANY 3rd party app to interfere with your device experience. Apple forces AUTOMATIC SUSPENSION of every active app when a call comes in or when YOU press the “Home” button.

2.This app DOES NOT always start itself when you forget, suspend it, or kill it. You still need to start the app the first time you drive after you BOOT YOUR PHONE OR after YOU CHOOSE to run ANY OTHER app. This app will, however,

•AUTOMATICALLY REACTIVATE after an incoming call ends, even if you take the call, provided the call ends WITHOUT YOU ACTIVATING a different app, either during or after the call.

•Issue a convenient touch sensitive message that, when touched by YOU, will immediately REACTIVATE the app WHILE YOU ARE STILL ON an incoming call.

•Issue reminder messages if you finish a call while still driving AND the app has been suspended BY YOU.

3.This app COLLECTS DATA, but ONLY WHILE YOU ARE ACTUALLY DRIVING (or optionally, while RIDING in a vehicle, or boating, walking, bicycling, etc.) We collect data about your LOCATION, HOW SAFELY THE DRIVER (usually you) DRIVES, IF you USE the app while in a moving vehicle, your ACTUAL MOBILE DISTRACTIONS that occur, and WHAT YOU DID after you CHOSE to SUSPEND the app while DRIVING a vehicle. However,

•You know when the app is collecting data because the “Block Screen” is displayed.

•You can CHOOSE to NOT use the app and you may choose to identify when you are riding as a passenger while using the app.

•You can CHOOSE to NOT be tracked by turning your GPS off in your phone settings.

4.Using this app is valuable to YOU and to YOUR Community.

•Even if you opt out of data collection, using this app every time you drive will prevent or reduce distracted driving accidents from cell phone use. For every 10,000 users, YOUR COMMUNITY will save over $400,000 EVERY YEAR in unnecessary, avoidable, distracted driving accident related expenses!

•You can prove ACTUAL Safe Driving Performance at any point in time, even leading up to the time of an accident. Through CLOUD DATA you can:
*Prove you were not on the phone or that you were using a hands-free device to make or receive a call
*Prove you were not texting
*Prove you were not reading or composing an email
*Prove you were not using or manipulating another mobile app on your phone
*Prove you were not distracted by your mobile device or its notifications
*Prove a history of safe driving performance even if you were at fault in a particular accident
*Prove you do not violate your employer’s enterprise policy with your corporate or personal phone(s) or other mobile devices (connected or running the app)

*Such “Proof” avoids or reduces your risk of fines, citations, loss of points, loss of driver’s license, insurance premium increases, and loss of family, friends, home, health, job, and personal assets from under-insured accident liability and injury
